For the 55-year-old who sat in the back seat, came too late to help - he died in a long curve in Wellerscheid. There already passed many bad accidents!
The employees of a company were on their way towards Gummersbacher Much. They wanted a site that had machines in the trunk. The victim later was new there - the man had only started two days ago at the company.
Shortly before nine clock the horror accident happened. In the notorious curve of VW Polo came to slip on a wet road - and slammed head-on into a tree, then turned around 180 degrees.
The car was caught on the floor - and almost another pedestrian (22). The young mother had brought her child to kindergarten, was on his way home. When the VW came toward her, she jumped at the last minute to the side.
The worker in the back seat had no luck. Due to the centrifugal forces, he banged his head against the side window. Witnesses reported that he hung up on the shoulders of the car window. The 55-year-old died on the spot. His colleague (49) before him in the passenger seat suffered serious injuries.
"When the accident occurs after initial investigations inappropriate speed for the autumnal weather conditions and poor technical condition of the vehicle into consideration," said police spokesman Mark Grommes. The "scrap-Polo" was assured.
Only in July this year in the Wellerscheid curve a driver (44) seriously injured. End of January, a woman (32), hurled as an oncoming car in their car.
